There is no other place like London where to find such devotion to contemporary craftsmanship. Along the year there were a few events to enjoy the creativity of makers and the refine execution of unique pieces.
This year Jover+Valls has been part of the 16th edition of “Collect”. The International Art Fair for Contemporary Objects” as a part of Mint Gallery portfolio together a selection of exquisite furniture pieces, sculptural marvels and a distinctive lighting installation.
The event is organized by the British Crafts Council and hosted at the magnificent Somerset House in central London. The British Crafts Council is the foremost authority on contemporary craft in all its forms, is devoted to find and empower new talent across the craft sector, creating platforms for emerging makers to show their work, forging connections between people and industries, and providing practical and inspirational resources to support the careers of our next generation of makers. The Somerset House is historical building that was built between XVIII and beginning of XIX century that now became an experimental workspace that approach the audience to artists, crafters and thinkers to develop creative projects and collaborations.
Jover+Valls is presenting their Hug Chaise Lounge and Ottoman. Was named as Hug because it gives an enveloping feel while you seat back, and it was inspired by the lines of a wide landscape. The leather of this furniture piece it is made with first quality bovine leather from European cattle , 3,5 mm. thick, vegetable tanned and dyed. The structure is made with steel, cold bended, hand polished, electroplated color and lacquered.
